We’ve heard the phrase, “feast fit for a queen,” but how does an actual queen feast?

The British royals are the most powerful family in the world, who can afford a life of ultimate luxury. From the world’s finest champagnes to caviar and truffles, there’s nothing Queen Elizabeth can’t have. But the Royals’ eating habits are surprisingly simple.

Love for Dark Chocolate

The Queen is very strict when it comes to her diet but that doesn’t mean she won’t indulge in her guilty pleasures every now and then.

According to Darren McGrady, who served as a chef to the Royal family for 15 years, Her Highness loves chocolate, especially dark chocolate which is high in antioxidants and low in sugar. This tasty treat has many health benefits, which is why it’s no surprise that it’s the Queen’s favorite.

But chocolate isn’t the only favorite snack in the family. The royals are also big fans of mangoes. The queen personally made sure that the fridge in Buckingham Palace was stocked with this tropical fruit because her husband, Prince Phillip, loves it too. It was a tradition in the royal family to eat mangoes over Christmas, and the Prince looked forward to the occasion.

Prince Charles is Particular About His Eggs

Prince Charles is just as strict about his diet as his mother, so much so that he only eats fresh organic foods. One of his favorite breakfast items is a boiled egg, but he’s very particular about it.

His chefs have to be very careful about how long the eggs are left in the water or they might get too hard. As a precaution, the chefs prepare over half a dozen eggs in hopes that Prince Charles likes at least one of them.

Kate’s Secret Chutney Recipe

Kate Middleton is a foodie at heart, and she loves spending time in the kitchen to prepare her family’s favorite meals. One of her favorite things to make is marrow chutney, which is also loved by the Queen.

In a documentary, the Duchess of Cambridge revealed that she gave a jar of this homemade goodness to the Queen as a Christmas present. The next day, she found the jar on Her Highness’ dining table, which was a welcoming sign.

Kate’s personal favorite is a guilty pleasure that she has on special occasions. It’s the sticky toffee pudding, which she will enjoy during the holidays at family dinners.  She also loves prawns and pasta with wild mushrooms. This goes to show how similar she is to British commoners.
